A New, Sweeping Financial Aid Initiative
- Ensures the affordability of a Harvard education for students and families across the economic spectrum and throughout the world
- Admission to Harvard is need-blind, meaning that financial need is not an impediment to admission for both International students and U.S. citizens
- It now costs the same or less for 90% of families in the U.S. to send their
daughters and sons to Harvard than to their in-state flagship public university
- In the past five years, our scholarship budget has grown by over 70%
- Students are not required to take out loans
- Home equity is not used in financial aid calculations
- For those with under $65,000 annual income, no contribution is required from the family
- A contribution of zero to 10% of annual income is expected for those with incomes from $65,000 to $150,000
- Families with incomes above $150,000 may still qualify for need-based assistance
- Students are assigned to a financial aid officer who assists each student
on an individual basis with any financial challenges that may arise
