Athletics

Athletics play a significant role in the lives of many Harvard students. There are 41 Division I intercollegiate varsity sports teams for women and men at Harvard, more than any other Division I college in the country. The Department of Athletics also offers more than 30 programs in a range of recreational and individual sports.

Harvard's athletic facilities are distinctive in their variety and high quality. From the football stadium to the ice rink, and from the weight rooms to the aerobics studios, the sports centers and athletic equipment are in constant use. When club sports, intramurals, and varsity teams are taken into account, it is estimated that over 75 percent of our students participate in some level of athletic activity.
